Game one matchup:
Roy Halladay vs. Edison Volquez. Game 1 of the NLDS. Roy must be so excited that he can't sleep. His first ever postseason start and the reason he came to the Phils.
The Phils own the season head to head matchup winning 5 of the 7 games they played show the totals - Reds: 27 Phils: 30. A 3 run difference over 7 games indicates this might be closer than we originally thought. However, Roy Oswalt has yet to face the Reds and I'd be surprised if it went more than 4.
Halladay's numbers on the year: 21-10, 2.44 ERA, 219 k's.
Volqez's numbers on the year: 4-3, 4.31 ERA, 67k's.
This is a clear mismatch and I get the feeling Dusty Baker is going to chalk game one up, having Bronson Arroyo and Johnny Cueto pitch in games 2 and 3, the much better pitchers on the season.
So, its time to put up or shut up. 95 wins don't mean shit in the postseason, save for venue. The lineup will probably be fairly standard on Wednesday, although where Jimmy is going to hit remains a mystery. I'd like him to hit 7th. Vic has done a good job in the leadoff role and putting Rollins behind chooch is a mistake. He's not selective enough to hit in front of the pitcher.
Here's hoping for more of this:
