Today's New York Times featured an article on one of America's first round foes. The mighty nation of Slovenia. They are nothing to scoff at after beating Russia to make the World Cup finals in 2010. The small country only has a population of slightly more than 2million, but they still blanked Russia 1-0. The Slovenian prime minister, Borut Pahur, said if they beat Russia he would shine the team's boots. After the game he kept his promise.
Here is to Obama giving the US World Cup team all shoe shines if they beat the United Kingdom! Obama is losing face daily in his decisions, but I think he can gain some real fans if he shines the shoes of Dempsey and Co. if they beat our across the pond neighbors England.
By the way, what is up with this picture? Did they have some contemporary photographer pose them so that each player was looking a different way as if they are disinterested? I like the suits. I also saw England boarding their plane the other day, all in matching suits. Can someone find me the picture of the American team in well-fitted suits?
