Phils win behind dominant complete game from Roy Halladay
For the first time in the first 6 games the Phillies have played this season, they failed to score 5 or more runs. However, like four other times, they won as they finished off the sweep of the Astros in Houston.
Roy was everything and more on a day when the Phillies offense was held largely in check by Roy Oswalt. Halladay went the distance, needing only 111 pitches to pitch the full 9 frames. He allowed 7 hits, no walks, 1 unearned run, and struck out 8. Halladay runs his season record to 2-0.
The only offense of the day was provided by Carlos Ruiz RBI groundout and a Jimmy Rollins solo shot to lead off the game. Rollins went 2 for 4 and is now hitting an obscene .391 six games into the young season. The home run was his first and the RBI was his 3rd. Shane Victorino stole his first base of the year.
The Phillies have their home opener tomorrow against the Nationals at 3:05. Cole Hamels will face Jason Marquis for the second time in a week.
