At first I was gonna do a recap of game 2 of this series with the Braves in this article mixed with game 3. Then game 3 happened. Here's a quick review of game 2 though, Cliff Lee only allowed 1 run and hit a homerun, Phils bullpen and offense didn't come through and we lost 4-1. Now for today's game, you know that chant Braves fans have for their "Tomahawk Chop"? Well Phillies fans today were singing along to that and doing the chop as the Phils were simply dominating the Atlanta Braves. The game didn't look like a romp early on though, it looked like it was going to be another pitchers duel like in the first two games of this series. Since it would take about an hour to actually go over all the scoring plays in this game, I'll point out the best performers out of the game today.

One of the most surprising big time players today was Michael Martinez filling in for Placido Polanco at 3rd base. MM went 4-5 and finally raised his average above .200 as he got it up to a .229. The most productive player today though in terms of driving in runs though, was the hero of game 1, Raul Ibanez. Raul drove in 6 of the Phillies runs, 3 coming on a homer in the 8th inning. Jimmy Rollins also had a great game at the plate going 3-5 with an RBI. John Mayberry went 3-5, all of his hits doubles as he drove in 4 runs. Dom Brown also had 3 hits, Chase Utley had 2 hits, as well as Ryan Howard. The Phils got 20 hits in the ballgame and the offense was clicking on all cylinders today. Does this mean they're back, doubt it, but let's just enjoy a game like this and be happy that the Phils have a 3.5 game lead in the NL East.

Now comes the All-Star Break, the Phils will only have 2 players actually participating in the game though, Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay. Polly and Shane will sit out due to injury and Hamels can't pitch because of his start today. The Midsummer Classic is always fun to watch and the festivities that go along with it, the Futures game which is today at 6, the Home Run Derby, the Celebrities game, and then the game itself. LET'S GO PHILS!
