Roy Oswalt tossed an absolute gem today as he shutout the Mets over 9 dominant innings.

Oswalt's win today gave him 12 for the season, or the most he's had since 2008 when he won 17.  I'd like to say that he'd be challenging that total if he pitched for the Phils the whole year but the Phils offensive slump killed a lot of chances for W's.  Oswalt was stunning today.  He only allowed 5 baserunners all day, only 1 via walk.  Even better was the chance to rest the bullpen by throwing an efficient 113 pitch outing.

At the dish, the Phils did just enough to win this game, although they should have had more.  They blew a big chance to blow it open in the 7th when Placido Polanco was up with the bases loaded and grounded into a double play.  You really should score more than 3 runs when you have 12 baserunners.  The offensive star was Chase Utley.  His first inning RBI single was all Roy Oswalt needed.

Joe Blanton will take on Andrew Miller tomorrow at 7:05 down in South Beach.  The Phils blasted Miller when they last saw him on the first night of Rosh Hashanah.
