Roy Halladay was his usual self today against the Oakland A's picking up his 10th win of the season. Doc pitched his 5th complete game this year while striking out 4. Shane Victorino started the scoring with a RBI single to left to give the Phils a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Ryan Howard added on by grounding into a double play to bring in Placido Polanco. The only run allowed by Roy came in the fourth inning when Ryan Sweeney singled to center field to bring home Coco Crisp. Ben Francisco drove in the third run of the inning for the Phils and they would never look back. Roy finished off his complete game with a double play and the Phillies picked up their 49th win of the season, 19 games above .500.

While the Phillies offense wasn't at it's best in this series by any means, they won two out of three and that's the most important thing. The Phils sit 5 games up on the Atlanta Braves in NL East and 8.5 on the surging Washington Nationals. One of the best matchups that's ever happened in Interleague Play is Phillies vs Red Sox. The series starts on Tuesday and Cliff Lee will face off against Boston ace Josh Beckett. In his career Beckett hasn't done that great against the Phils, over the last 10 years he's 8-4, but with a 3.98 ERA. Unfortunately for the Phils, Cliff Lee hasn't done much better against the Sox. He's 2-4 with a 4.06 ERA. Good news though hopefully for the Phils in game 2 as they face of against John Lackey, Lackey has been downright pathetic this year with a 7.36 ERA, certainly not the same Lackey as he was with the Angels. Vance Worley will start game 2 for the Phils. In game 3 the Phillies will face off against one of the best lefties in the game Jon Lester, Lester is having a solid year with a 9-4 record and a 3.66 ERA. The Phils will send Cole Hamels to face the Sox, Hamels has been great in his career against Boston and will look to continue his success against them on Thursday.

Cliff Lee has been flat out amazing of late as he's 3-0 in his last 3 starts with a 0.35 ERA. Hopefully he will be able to continue his hot stretch and maybe the Phils offense can heat up against Beckett who they have hit around in the past. LET'S GO PHILS!
